“For with God nothing is impossible.” -Luke 1:37 NIV
God never promised that it would be easy… But that FAITH in him makes all things possible!
I know I’m not the only one… Sitting here meditating on God’s word, trying so hard to make “sense” of it… What is he telling me? What does he want me to do? Where do I start? All of a sudden I hear myself saying “Lord, I have faith, but I also have a headache.”
Then it hits me… “PATIENCE my child. Be STILL and know that I am God.” We get ourselves in such a hurry trying to figure everything out all at once. Our wayward thoughts swarm our minds so rapidly as we persist in trying to find answers that we inadvertently drown out his message to us. God doesn’t work like the magic 8 ball we had when we’re children, asking a specific question and getting a specific answer. We could have asked something completely bizarre, “Is my brother a poo poo head?” Or even “Does my crush think I’m cute?” And we would get an immediate answer such as “It is certain”… or “Don’t count on it”.
Similarly, many of us expect the same of God. We simply ask a question, for example, “Am I following your will Lord?” And our expectation is to receive an immediate clear and detailed response, “No, you need to do exactly this or that and then you will be given this for your efforts.” Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as that so we quickly become frustrated.
Don’t give up simply because you are aggravated or tired of waiting! Trust in God, trust in his will, trust in his timing. For he already knew the plans he had for us before we were even conceived! How awesome is that!?!! We need only to be still, know he is God and be patient. I get it, it’s easier said than done, right? Buuut, as I have mentioned, God never promised it would be easy… Mathew 9:37 says “the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few…” We want what we want and we want it now!! How often do we stop to think about what God wants? Galations 5:16 – 17 NLT says “So I say, let the Holy Spirit guides your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the spirit wants. And the spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.”
This is my first post… I would love to dive in deeper on how to let God lead you, how to hear him etc. Please let me know of any questions you have, how I can help and any topic you would like to know more about. Thank you so much and God bless you all!!!!
